Version Control

Version Control is a Finder Quick Action that reveals the versions of your files and folders in the macOS file versioning system.

Features

View dates, times, and names of other versions.
Record new versions of the current file.
Delete other versions when unneeded.
Restore a version anywhere you choose.

Version Control provides a convenient interface to control your document versions. Under the hood, modern apps for macOS automatically record versions of your files. Version Control allows you to restore these recorded versions. Or for those with limited storage space, you can manually delete some or all versions to free up space.

For the files that do not receive the automatic versioning from macOS, you can now record versions with the help of Version Control. These versions are fully compatible with the rest of macOS.

For the nerds, any app that directly (via NSFileVersion) or indirectly (through NSDocument) records versions is compatible with Version Control. For apps that do not record versions, Version Control allows you to use the same powerful versioning system built into macOS.
